THE NEGRO LEAGUES SEASON 3

Narrated by Negro Leagues Baseball Museum President Bob Kendrick, Season 3 of The Negro Leagues Storyline returns to The Show ‘25; leading off with three ballplayers who paired their tremendous talents with a nickname you couldn’t help but remember:

Cool Papa Bell - The Definition of Speed

James “Cool Papa” Bell was a switch-hitting two-way player, a Baseball Hall-of-Famer, and The Fastest Man to Ever Play the Game. A teammate and mentor to a young Jackie Robinson, Bell’s blazing speed and aggressive attitude on the bases set the standard for a century of leadoff hitters who would follow in his wake.

Turkey Stearnes - The Unorthodox All-Star

Norman “Turkey” Stearnes got his nickname from the unorthodox way he flapped his arms while running – but this Turkey could fly around the basepaths. He could hit, too – with a career slugging percentage and batting average that still rank top ten in Major League history.

Bullet Joe Rogan - The Two-Way Legend

Charles Wilber “Bullet Joe” Rogan was an early two-way superstar for the Kansas City Monarchs; the Shohei Ohtani of his time. Rogan holds the impressive dual distinction of posting the fourth-highest career batting average in Negro Leagues history, as well as being the winningest Negro League pitcher to ever toe the rubber. In 1925, he led the Monarchs to their third straight league championship with a 17-2 record on the mound and a .381 average at the plate.
